This whisk type object, often made of nylon hair attached to a wooden or metal handle. It is used to wave over the ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’ as a gesture of respect & veneration. Granthi or Sevadar, gently does this waving activity to demonstrate respect and dedication.
This act is considered a highly esteemed form of service to the Guru. Many Sikhs engage in this practice at their local Gurdwara Sahib or in their homes if they possess ‘Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji’.
